The MS in question is defective; between the folios numbered 32 and 33 in Paris MS 1779 several folios are missing, including the annals of - Page 132
life of Saladin, which would have constitued fascicle 2 of volume III, contains no matter not now easily accessible in print; for it is merely a somewhat condensed version of Ibn - Page 132
Al-'Adid's caliphate have been supplied through a collation of photographs of Paris MSS 1780 and 1781. Instead of continuing immediately the publication of volume - Page 132
of the Annals the editor proposes to print next volume VI; in so doing he in the more willing to heed several requests since - Page 132
shall have been finished. The fact that the Yale University Library possesses, in the Landberg collection, a (modern) copy of volume VI of the Nujûm (beginning with the sultanate of al-Malik an-Nasir Faraj in 801 AH: 1398 AD; cp. Paris 1-785) and has most graciously consented to loan it to the University of California Library is another reason for the determination to edit this volume next.
